Casino Betting Systems

The term “casino” is derived from the Italian word for home (casa). This nickname was used to describe the small cottage home. Later the same word was used to describe houses in the countryside used by Venetian nobles for fun and relaxation. Among the other activities of the houses, they included also games. Under this format of the houses, the word casino was used in English from the 18 th century onwards. From around 1850 onwards, the word casino has the same meaning we use today, that is the Casino is an area where gambling is conducted.

At the same time, in the 18 th century, various health resorts became famous throughout Europe (known today as Spa). The first Spa was established in famous spas weather and that was the preference of the aristocracy of Europe as places of relaxation and holidays. The most popular spa resorts were in Belgium. One of these Spa, the Liège Spa, added also gambling in its schedule in 1763, in a place called the Redoute. Of course, such sites existed elsewhere but we can consider the Redoute as the first casino. The first casino in history which could resemble current casinos was founded in Germany in another famous spa in Baden-Baden. It started its operation in 1748 and exists until today.

FIONTOR NTOSTOGIEFSKI

The great Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky was born in 1821. Along with the enormous literary talent of the player he was also a pathological gambler. Indeed many times he was without money despite the huge publishing success of his works, since he wasted all his money, in gambling.

One of the most famous novels of Dostoevsky is “The Player” issued in 1866. Many philologists assume that he wrote the book during his stay in Loutropoli of Baden-Baden Germany, a favorite resort of aristocracy, of course playing every day in the casinos.

The novel brilliantly captures the powerful and simultaneously experiencing strange force of the player who bets. The “gambling fever” was very well known to Ntostogiefksi. History is full of caustic black humor and heroes appear ridiculous in the vanity and uncertainty.

JOHN MONTAGU

The famous noble Englishman born in 1718. Although he served many years in positions of responsibility in British politics and the British navy, was known in history for another reason.

NICK ” THE GREEK “

The Greek Nikos Dandolos, is probably the most famous player of all times. Born in Rethymnon, Crete in 1893. His exchequer life has provided material for all sorts of fantastic romantic stories. He began his “career” in the U.S., by playing in Horse Races, where he won half a million dollars in six months. All his life was dedicated to all sorts of Gaming. He has left the proverbial phrase said with absolute apathy to rival Johnny Moss after a marathon poker game that had kept 5 months, having just lost 2 million dollars. “Mr. Moss, I have to let you go”.

EDMOND HOYLE
Edmond Hoyle was born in 1672 and was a writer known for his books dealing with gambling. He studied law but he was also teaching private lessons for “whist”, a popular game of cards, to members of the English high society. He was giving them some special notes that gained so much popularity to the point that it made him publish them. The book for whist experienced enormous success so Hoyle republished slowly a new book. This new book was about rules and playing strategies for backgammon, chess, the quadrille, the piquet and brag, issued in a single project in 1750. His contribution to the development of gaming was great. He died in 1769. For many years his books layed down several gambling rules that are used up to now.
